The post-doctoral program at Atlanta Psychological Services consists of primarily testing/evaluations. There is limited opportunity for some therapy. Evaluations include foster children, forensic evaluations (e.g., psychosexuals, parental fitness evaluations custody evaluations, criminal defense, competency, fitness for duty, etc.), Asperger’s/Autism/PDD evaluations, neuropsychological evaluations (children and adults), psychoeducational evaluations, developmental evaluations of infants and young children, and various general psychological evaluations from a wide variety of referral sources. Post-docs will receive a broad-generalist experience, with exposure to a wide range of referral types, ages, ethnically diverse clients, and diagnoses, but with the potential for specific focus in one or more of the areas above.
Successful applicants will have solid testing skills, excellent report writing skills, the ability to quickly learn and integrate new tests into your repertoire, and motivation to strive for excellence. There is no specific closing or cut-off date for applying for this position. Most post-docs complete the year according to a typical academic calendar. However, there often are opportunities for year-round acceptance into the program.
If you do not
enjoy doing a lot of testing, then this is not the right post-doctoral
opportunity for you. But if you love testing and you want to work in an
